About Dr. James
Dr. James Pu serves as Chief AI/Tech Advisor for WorkOptional.ai, combining academic expertise in robotics and AI with experience in Fortune 500 technology companies and investment in AI ventures. With a PhD in Robotics/AI and a Master's in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research from the University of Arizona, he guides WorkOptional.ai's technological roadmap and investment strategies.
His career includes contributions at Rockwell International on GPS systems and roles at Applied Materials, Brooks Automation, AMD Spansion, and IBM, particularly in semiconductor fabrication. After his corporate career, Dr. Pu founded Dading Capital LLC, a hedge fund and venture capital firm through which he invests in AI ventures.
In 2018, Dr. Pu hosted Silicon Valley's AI Frontiers conference, where OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever was a keynote speaker. His investment portfolio includes OpenAI, X.ai, Wisdom AI, Twitter(X), SpaceX, Alluxio, Glean, Groq, Anduril, Perplexity, and Tenstorrent.
